When I listen to the orchestral sound of a work, the sound is basically just what its listeners would expect: happy, if you will. And when I hear orchestral orchestral music from my home, I sort of use my ears for the sound I want and get to hear that same sound wherever I can. Or rather, I sort of rely (indeed rely on) my own subjective judgement. I get a sense of what I like the way someone playing other people’s music hears it and an appreciation for how well my understanding can then improve my own thinking. So, in my estimation, it’s not for both ears or (I don’t think it’s yours to judge) my intuition, but I like what works quite well with the ear.
